spaghetti Bolognese

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? its been a while. been busy compiling dishes.

I was speaking to a friend of mine, who said that some of the sauces from a jar, are sometimes better made from home. I totally agreed with her, as with homemade, you can control the ingredients.

I decided to go ahead and make my own bolognese sauce, instead of the time-saving sauce from a jar.

let’s get started.

Wheat spaghetti
1 pack of minced meat
1 can of tomato puree
1 can of plum tomatoes
1 large Onions
3 Garlic cloves
1 tablespoon of Mixed herbs
2 tablespoon of thyme
salt to taste
1 teaspoon of Black pepper
1 Stock cube (beef)
1 teaspoon of Paprika
1 teaspoon Meat seasoning
2 tablespoon of Vegetable or olive oil

2 Medium sized pot(s)
Frying pan
Wooden spoon

Prep time : 10 minutes
Cooking time : 1 hour : 10 minutes
Total time : 1hour : 20 minutes

Begin by peeling and slicing the onions. nicely chop the garlic, set aside. Put one of the medium-sized pot on the gas cooker, set the heat to medium and add the 2 tablespoons of oil to the pot.

Heat the oil for about 1 minute and then add the onions. fry for about 2 minutes. then add the garlic and fry for another 2 minutes. by now the whole kitchen should be enveloped in the aromatic smell of the garlic 🙂

next, add the minced beef and keep stirring until it turns brown. reduce the heat to low and allow the beef to cook in its own juice for about 15 minutes.

While the beef is cooking, roughly blend the tomatoes. Pour the tomato into the other pot, add the tomato puree, stir and cook slowly for about 15 minutes. this should be done almost at the same time as the beef is cooking.

After 15 minutes, both the beef and the tomato sauce should be cooked to some extent. Now pour the tomato sauce unto the cooking beef, and add all the other herbs and spices. and let it cook still on low heat for another 20 minutes.

In another pot, pour boiling water and add the wheat spaghetti. let it boil until it is soft but firm to chew.

After 20 minutes check on the sauce. give it final stir and switch off the cooker.

strain the pasta. dish it unto a serving dish and spoon the delicious homemade spaghetti bolognese sauce on top of it. garnish with chopped parsley and its ready to eat!

Bon Apetite

That’s it from me
