Citrus and Herbs oven baked chicken

Hi guys, how are you all doing? This recipe is all kinds of awesome. I mean really really awesome. Its delicious, juicy, tender and so full of flavours. Seriously after reading this post, you need to try this ASAP. Your family and friends would love it.

Chicken I have always loved. I love it spicy, sometimes mild, sometimes with a kick to it or just boiled. Chicken is very adaptable. I doubt there isn’t any spice that it can mellow with. I seriously doubt it. So you can imagine why I am saying you need to try this out.

Citrus is good. It always adds a zing to any meal, so just imagine what your meal will taste like after marinating it on the citrus goodness. Oh my. Lol. Ok enough talking. Let’s get started shall we πŸ™‚

2 Lemons
2 oranges
Smoked paprika
Mixed herbs
Onion powder
Olive oil
Oregano (optional)

small bowl
Baking tray or dish

Prep time : 4 hours (marinating)
Cooking time : 1 hour
Total time: 5 hours

Juice 1 lemon and orange.


Next slice the remaining lemon and orange. Set aside

Poke the chicken to allow the marinade seep in

Mix the orange, lemon, olive oil, onion granules, and etc.






Place the chicken in a sealable bag. Pour in the mixture. Close and shake well. Marinade for 4 hours


AFTER 4 Hours:
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees

Remove the chicken from the bag, place it in the oven dish.

Pour the marinade or fresh one if you prefer over the chicken. I used a fresh one πŸ™‚

Rub it with the remaining spices. (Thyme rosemary and black pepper)

Add the sliced orange and lemon over the chicken


Bake for approximately 1 hour.

After 1 hour, remove from the oven and let it rest for a while. This will allow the juices flow very well.


There you go! Doesn’t that look amazing and delicious😄.


I served this with supper spicy jollof rice and Kelewe. Yum.
